Hello all of you Mindful people! I am Lauren, from Hint of Greens. I am a private chef, health coach and all around lover of health and wellness. I want to talk to you a little today about my choice to immerse myself into the Mindful Health Cleanse and Community.

A little background about me, I am not big into detoxing or juicing. I am someone who really needs to chew on food to feel satiated, so upon learning that not only can I have one full meal but also two snacks on this program in addition to two smoothies, I knew it might be a great fit for me.

In addition to my need to chew, I personally do not believe in cleansing for the purpose of weight loss. I believe in a healthy lifestyle balance and tend to eat very clean with one or two cheat meals a week. The truth is, anytime you restrict calories you are likely to shed a few pounds and that is not my goal when it comes to cleansing; so what drew me to this program was not a promise of weight loss, but instead a promise of chakra cleansing and healing which is something that really interests me.

I practice Kundalini yoga and through that practice I have learned a lot about chakras and I am always interested in learning more -- especially from the perspective of food and healing. There are unique colors that go with each chakra and the idea of testing my imbalances and feeding that area seemed like a fun challenge for me. Instead of looking at this as a cleanse, I looked at it as a healing plan.

I met with Nicole and she ran the tests to see where I was off-balance and what chakra needed the most love. For me it is my Solar Plexus, which makes a lot of sense as I am in the middle of making some very big changes for my company. It makes sense that self worth and ego based thoughts are popping up because new is always scary, and I knew working on my Solar Plexus would really help me find some grounding as I take my next steps.

For those of you wondering, the Solar Plexus Chakra is the center of personal identity. It is the seat of the ego, and develops in our teens and is anchored by our early twenties. The Solar Plexus Chakra rules all aspects of our personality, especially our sense of self-worth and self-esteem. This energy center also influences self-confidence and degrees of personal power, as well as freedom of choice. Ultimately, it helps us choose what and who are for our highest good.

The Solar Plexus is highlighted by the color yellow, so right before I got started I headed to the supermarket to grab all things yellow; mango, pineapple, yellow kiwis, corn, yellow bell peppers, squash and carrots. Of course I stocked up on more healthy items but I knew I really wanted to highlight the yellow foods to really push my boundaries in terms of creating meals for this program.

The first week went very smoothly. I had initially thought I would have a smoothie for breakfast and dinner and a big lunch but with my schedule I found myself needing to mix it up so some days it was smoothie for lunch and others for dinner. I do notice that I on the days I have both smoothies in the morning that I must make sure to have snacks handy during the day or I get a little bit irritable without chewing so sliced bell peppers and veggie dips have been coming in handy! I will be sharing some of those dips with you later this week!

Another thing I noticed is that I must be a little more gentle with my body while cleansing. I typically workout 6 days a week but have lowered the intensity of my workouts a bit and I am opting for more yoga as I cleanse. In addition I have been making sure to get adequate sleep, I put my phone away for at least 30 minutes before bed to decompress, and I have been doing a daily 10 minute meditation.

For me this cleanse is a lot more about the mind, feeling good, and letting go of restrictive thoughts and patterns. Instead of making the focus on food, which so often the focus is on, I have let go of thinking about the food so much and more about nourishing myself with the right colors, and trusting my intuition.

With week one down I can definitely say I am feeling lighter and brighter both in spirit and body. My sugar cravings are gone, bloating is down and my energy levels are back up and did I mention my skin is looking super clear!

I look forward to keeping you posted on the rest of the cleanse as well as some of the awesome recipes I have been developing along the way!

Xoxo,
L
