Super Green Smoothie

Hi there! I wanted to share a recipe I tried this morning on Day 2 of the Cleanse.  I'm going to be honest with you, I've always been a tad bit averse to greens in my smoothies, but after adapting a recipe I found, I truly, truly enjoyed the flavor this time.  I'll share the original because it's incredibly nutrient dense, but in parentheses I'll mention my swaps for folks that enjoy the sweeter side of things. :)

Super Green Smoothie

Super Green Smoothie

  • 1 cup organic kale, spinach, mustard or Swiss chard (you can rotate for different flavors, I opted for spinach!)

  • 2 Tbsp organic parsley or dandelion greens (I added a full dropper of chlorophyll)

  • 1/2 cup frozen organic strawberries (okay, I added a few extra!)

  • 1 organic banana

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (didn't have any so I added 1 tsp coconut oil)

  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup filtered water

  • 1 Cleanse packet

  • 1 tsp raw local honey (if needed, but my banana and strawberries were so perfectly sweet!)

Blend until smooth. Voila!

Chlorophyll

As it turns out, this blend is very helpful in balancing your hormones! Spinach is high in magnesium and iron, essential micronutrients for healthy hormones. Strawberries contain iodine which supports the thyroid and coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides that also support the hormones. If you opted for parsley, it's loaded with chlorophyll, folic acid and beta-carotene to support the liver. I'm not keen on parsley in liquid form, so that's why I went straight for the chlorophyll concentrate in my cabinet. It has a slight mint flavor, which I think worked excellently with the strawberries!

I hope you try it and if so, let us know how you liked it! :)

XO,

Adrianna
